Some halls also allow you to choose who you live with, or identify characteristics you have so that they can match you up with compatible flat or roommates. For example:
- Single sex accommodation
- Whether you are a smoker
- Social interests or hobbies
- Subject or course
- Age range
- Ensuite accommodation
However lots of halls and student accommodation allocate people to rooms randomly, which can be a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, especially if you are new to the area. Sometimes this can not work out though. Check out our section on what to do if relationships with your flatmates should break down.
