I couldnt find anywhere else in the NUS website I could comment so this is a more general comment than focusing on the article.
1. To NUS President
I do not support cutting budget or student protest but can you stop pretending you are really representing all the students ? I know many friends who do not think you guys are doing right and the stupidly arranged demonstration really made me feel shameful for being a student.
2. Why there is a black student officer but not other ethnics minority one ? Let's say the second biggest group - Asian (not sub-continent Asia eg Asia but those Chinese, Korean, Japanese etc) ?
3. When we are blaming the government cutting funding, have you ever think about do people really deserve it ? Too many 'cant be bother to get a job' using going to poor quality so call unis to avoid paying tax and contribute to the society. I start working term times and holidays since 16 and support myself for uni. why cant you guys do the same ? Too lazy ? I do go out partying and drinking but not as much as me fellows who are using government grants. Does that tell you something ?
4. Is going to uni a must ? I know many people never been to uni and earn a decent living. Of coz if you want to be a doctor/lawyer you must but isnt there many more options ? We have too many poor quality degree which doenst even should be allow to count as a degree the first place.
More uni graduates actually de-valued 'Graduates' and make the situation worse.
