February’s top ten tips:
- Join the NUS Course Reps Network and introduce yourself to other Reps;
- look at the National Student Survey (NSS) results for your department on unistats and tell students which areas have fared poorly and ask why;
- find out when your next meeting is and commit to putting something on the agenda;
- find out who the other course reps are in your department – if you don’t know ask your students’ union to find out;
- send an electronic greeting card or email to students letting them know you’re their course rep;
- make sure your departmental noticeboard has your name and contact details or your picture on it so students know how to contact you;
- Pencil in the dates of meetings you are due to attend in your diary;
- look over the minutes of the past meeting that you attended – is there anything that you need to chase up, or is there anything that staff have committed to that is still unresolved?
- stand up at the start of your next core lecture and re-introduce yourself to your peers so that they know who you are and how to contact you;
Tip of the month:
Set up your own facebook group so students can discuss their thoughts on your course.
Share your tips with other Reps on the Course Reps Network or forum.
