Words of Wisdom

Yesterday we took to the Twitter streams and asked current or ex students to supply some words of wisdom when it comes to receiving your results. Here is what they had to say:

Richard Bayes ‏@SUSU_Rich

@nusuk don’t make a decision you will regret life after A levels is what you make it, I’ve had the time of my life at @staffsuni

Great advice there from Richard. What ever happens after you receive you’re A-Level results, make sure that you enjoy it but don’t rush in to decisions. Take time to select the right course, the right city and the right university and you will have ‘the time of your life’.

And a piece of advice that follows on from that:

James Greenhalgh ‏@Jgreenhalgh90

@nusuk dont panic, have all your unis contact no's ready, & if u dont get grades u needed dont b afraid to reapply nxt yr if not happy

Current students also show that getting in to your insurance university might not be the worst thing after all:

Richard Alderman ‏@richardalderman

@nusuk I ended up at my insurance university. I cannot even imagine having gone to my first choice. And I'm now a sabb! #disneyland

tashacatherinerush ‏@xtasharushyxoxo

@nusuk keep calm and dont stress is my advice :) i was this last year and now i am doing business at dmu xx xt

tashacatherinerush ‏@xtasharushyxoxo

@nusuk i was new to the campus and freshers reps helped me and so i am repaying that by being a freshers rep this year xx xt

One of the student societies also offers some sterling advice for new students:

Brunel LGBT Society ‏@BrunelLGBT

@nusuk Don't stress if things don't work out exactly the way you planned, it might be the best thing that ever happened! It was for me.

Brunel LGBT Society ‏@BrunelLGBT

@nusuk Get involved in clubs and societies! Even if you're only vaguely interested it's by far the best way to meet people and make friends.

Brunel LGBT Society ‏@BrunelLGBT

@nusuk + obviously support the LGBT campaigns. If you think something needs changing, get involved in the union and change it!

We think the moral of the story is that although receiving A-Level results and thinking about what to do next is daunting, you should embrace the uncertainty and, if you do experience any problems there will always be an alternative as long as you do everything you can to enjoy it.
