General Election 2010
This election has been recognised for the strength of turnout amongst students and young people. It is already clear that the level of student engagement in the election has had a very significant impact. Our campaign has resulted in over 150 MPs in the new parliament who have pledged their opposition to higher tuition fees, many of whom will owe their jobs in large part to the student vote.
NUS has called on the new government to swiftly enact changes to the law recommended in a report into the voting chaos on the night of the recent General Election. The Electoral Commission report confirms that thousands of people, including hundreds of students, were denied their vote.
