Elizabeth Nuffield Educational Fund (ENEF)

Grants are awarded for childcare to women aged 21 to 50 who are on higher education courses in HE institutions and certain FE colleges, not including postgraduate, distance learning and some other courses such as dance and drama.

Students must be usually resident in the UK. HE students who are eligible for statutory support from their local authority, the Student Awards Agency for Scotland, Education and Library Boards in Northern Ireland or the NHS student bursary schemes are not eligible for help from ENEF.

Applicants are expected to approach the Learner Support Funds, Access to Learning Funds or equivalent hardship funds in their institution for help.

The Royal Scottish Corporation Training Grants

Training grants are awarded to students in financial need who have lived within a 35 mile radius of Charing Cross, London for at least two years and are either Scottish born or who are the child, spouse, widow or widower of someone born in Scotland.

One-off training grants may be awarded to help with the cost of fees, course books and equipment or living costs. Grants are usually paid directly to a third party. Students must be on a recognised training course, preferably one that will lead to employment and priority is given to adults who are retraining.

The bursaries are aimed at non-traditional students and are paid in two equal instalments over the first academic year. Only one application per college is allowed so applicants must liaise with their college about submitting a form.
